Alliance players go to AV for the easy win. what does he do in BGs that are Horde favored? Better yet what does he do in arena where he isn’t one of 40 people working for the same goal?……

I’ve only made it through the first chapter so far, but I really enjoyed it! I’m going to keep reading later.

The characters are compelling and left me wanting to know what happens to them next. It seems like Herman might return to his old ways, but maybe not?

I like all the references to the Lordaeron setting. You don’t get much of that nowadays in Warcraft, since most things are set post-fall. (Which probably seems normal to most who started with WoW, but as someone who started with Warcraft II, I especially enjoy things set in Lordaeron).

I suppose Arthas is indirectly responsible for Hazel’s death in a way, given all the healers were attending to Lianne instead of Hazel. Maybe that will come up later? (You don’t have to answer that.)

I look forward to reading about the continued adventures of Bobos!

I finally found some time to read through chapters 2 and 3. I enjoyed them a lot as well!

It seems Herman has returned to his old ways, as I feared he would. His descent into darkness over the course of chapter 2 was compelling and I enjoyed reading through it.

Bobo’s early origins were really enjoyable as well. I like the Raised by Wolves (or pigs, in this case) angle. It reminds me of Mowgli or Romulus and Remus (or as you mentioned to me yourself, Tarzan). I like that Bobos is more powerful than the average boy but still faces conflicts and challenges that he has to overcome or avoid (like Herman and the other men). And I about found myself wanting some stew after that stew segment. 😛

I’m looking forward to reading more soon!

Hey Bobos! This is a fascinating story! I just finished reading chapter 2, and I’m really struck by how great the writing is! It’s so easy to identify with the characters because of the descriptive writing style.

I think that one of the measures of a great story is when you can sympathize with characters when they’re being cruel or self-destructive. With Herman I want to be angry at him for how he treated Bobos, but I can also feel the depth of his pain. He can’t face life without his wife, and that sort of suffering compels him to lash out. He’s not evil necessarily, he’s just lashing out because of his misery. I really like the complexity of that.

As for the story itself, I like that even though the idea of being raised by an animal is a little familiar (like in the comparisons Hunterius makes), this take feels fresh. You can see that Bobos is a classical hero with powers that seem to come from the heavens or from magic, but he is still young and doesn’t have much power over his situation. This story has been very thoughtfully designed, and I’m looking forward to reading the rest!

I made it through chapters 4 and 5, and I’m still enjoying the story!

The dream sequence in chapter 4 was interesting. It made the true nature of Bobos’s destiny clearer (to take up the shield and serve the Light as a warrior). Bobos also seems to be regaining some memories of his mother, or at least he was, before Herman rudely interrupted his dream.

I like how Bobos learns during his fight with Herman in chapter 4. Bobos isn’t just all powerful starting out. He’s not able to take down Herman without any effort at all. His abilities are extraordinary for his age, but he still has much to learn. I enjoyed that he was able to learn quickly how to better take a hit by watching Mama Pig fight. The fight makes it clear that, while there is something supernatural about Bobos, he’s not instantly good at everything. He learns quickly, but he still has much to learn.

Herman’s spilt second flashback to his times with Hazel when he breaks the spoon also ensured that he’s still somewhat sympathetic despite his terrible actions in this chapter. Herman remains multi-faceted, though I have my doubts about whether he’ll ever be a “good” man again.

I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the story!

Chapter 4 was great! I found myself really appreciating the confusion and longing that Bobos is going through. I like that even though this is an adventure story, the struggle is very much an internal one. I think that’s relatively rare in the fantasy genre, so this stands out positively here.

Thanks for such good stories! I’ll be readying chapter 5 soon!

I’ve finally gotten back to reading this and just finished chapter 5.

I love all the references to other places, events, and people in Azeroth! Such as the references to Lordamere, Elwynn, and the First War (though I’m not sure if Princess would be alive prior to the First War).

Herman continues to be a compelling character. He does terrible things to Bobos, yet I continue to sympathize with him a small amount. Getting to read his inner thoughts helps with that, I believe. I don’t have to wonder why he’s doing why he’s doing things that seem evil, because he explains them in his own head. His insistence on making his farm the best it can be is also interesting. Is he pouring all of his effort into improving the farm to avoid drowning in his own despair?

Herman’s realization that forming a truce with Bobos is in the farm’s best interest was also an enjoyable development. Bobos gets at least a sort of rest from the horrors Herman puts him through, but I suspect this won’t last very long.

I’m looking forward to reading Chapter 6. Hopefully, I’ll get to it sooner than Chapter 5.

I’ve finally caught up with the story. I finished chapter 7 and enjoyed it a lot.

I like that the story is told from many different perspectives. I’d already seen the world from the point of view of Bobos and Herman, but now I’ve seen it from Joyce’s as well. It keeps things interesting.

I thought the segment of the chapter where Joyce is walking down the steps in her old family manor was great. Walking down the stairs seems like such a normal activity that’s hard to make interesting, but lines like “She moved down them lightly, with slow and deliberate steps, savoring the memories that came unbidden to her…” and “Counting the stairs had always been a habit of hers over the years, a way of reassuring herself that the world could only change so much, and that some things never changed.” make that scene really compelling while giving personality to Joyce at the same time.

I eagerly await the next chapter so that I can learn what becomes of Joyce, Bobos, and Herman once they all come together.
